Inspired by the beautiful Angels on the Rood screens of St Michael and All Angels church in Barton Turf, Norfolk and painted with lots of lovely gold paint and ink which shimmer in the light.
Archangels are messengers and bearers of good news. Archangel Michael is the captain of the heavenly host and is shown here winged and dressed in mid 15th century armour. He carries a mace and a sword.
